Evocati QuestionsHow far in advance do we need to schedule for training?
Our team can be readily available at your convenience. Since we tailor our services to our clients needs, we would only need a week's notice so that we can prepare materials and schedule an instructor. I'm a beginner, do you have any suggestions on how to get acquainted with a firearm? We have clients with a wide spectrum of experience in firearms. For our beginners, we offer Familiarity Training. Familiarity Training teaches a first-time user how to properly follow the basic firearm safety rules, firearm handling, how to load and unload their ammunition, and how to properly clean their firearm. This is accomplished through one-on-one training and personal assessment of their individual skill level through observation and range experience. Most importantly once the student learns how to shoot properly, the student will gain confidence in their skills to safely use a firearm. What's the difference between CHL Training and Familiarity Course Training? CHL training is a curriculum established by the state of Texas, with a required amount of hours and proficiency testing to assure that a person is aware of how to act responsibly carrying a weapon. Once the student completes the CHL Training by a licensed provider, the student can apply for a Concealed Handgun License to carry a firearm on their person. The Familiarity Training is training above the expectations of the CHL for first-time users who are not acquainted with how to properly use a firearm. Evocati aims at competency in CHL and Familiarity course training. Is there a study guide for advance study prior to the class to ensure we pass the proficiency test? The way that our courses are taught, you are assured to pass the proficiency examination. Your instructor will review all necessary components. We do have a prepared curriculum for our CHL clients if you would like to purchase it ahead of time for $5 in electronic form or $7 for the hard copy materials which comes with a course book and CD. These materials will be inclusive to utilize while you are training, and are available for purchase if you would like to keep. How much does CHL Training cost? Pricing is dependent on whether the client is looking for single training or the entire training experience. For pricing details, click here. How do I pay? Click Below |

Gun Range QuestionsAm I eligible to take the training if I don't own a firearm?
Yes. Gun ranges often have a weapon you can borrow for a fee (usually less than $20), and on occasion our instructors may carry a spare weapon with them in case not everyone had a firearm. If you do not have a weapon, reach out to us so that we can provide you options. What requirements are needed to pass the proficiency on the gun range? CHL qualifications will be conducted using a B-27 target style. Shooter must have a minimum score of 70% (175 out 250 possible). If any malfunctions occur, shooter will work through problem and finish the course of fire. Stage 1: 20 shots will be fired from 3 yards:
- 3 shots fired in 9 seconds
Which range do you use to conduct the shooting part of the testing? We have relationships with a number of gun ranges and can also make arrangements to utilize a gun range closer to your home or preferred location of training. Your range fee is included in the pricing. The only additional cost to the student is ammunition. How many rounds of ammunition are required for the CHL proficiency? For the CHL training component, the student will need to shoot a total of 50 rounds on the B-27 target at different distances. That usually is 2 boxes of ammunition. Make sure that the ammunition: - Matches your firearm - No Magtech/Monarch brand ammo used - No aluminum/steel cases used How many rounds are needed for the Familiarity Course? For the Familiarization course, although the state has no requirements, our experience is that students have adequately learned to shoot with 50 rounds or less. |
